AU Signs Agreement with Louisiana Dept of Corrections

Ashland University has signed its latest Corporate Partners Agreement with officials from the Louisiana Department of Corrections and Public Safety. The Louisiana department, which is headquartered in Baton Rouge, La., has more than 6,000 employees.

“AU’s prison program is currently serving more than 400 incarcerated students in Louisiana and this agreement will provide us with the opportunity to also serve the correctional officers in Louisiana,” said Dr. Todd Marshall, associate provost at Ashland University. “We are very pleased to finalize this educational relationship with them.”

The agreement with Louisiana Department of Corrections and Public Safety marks the signing of AU’s 20th Corporate Partnership agreement since the program was started last year.

“Our Corporate Partners Program offers the employees of for-profit and non-profit organizations opportunities and access to our degree programs at discounted rates,” said AU President Dr. Carlos Campo. “Corporate Partner employees, spouses and dependents are eligible to receive the Corporate Partners Tuition Scholarship, giving greater access to our nationally ranked and fully accredited degree programs.”

The Corporate Partner agreement with the Louisiana Department of Corrections and Public Safety calls for:

• a $1,000 scholarship per academic year for qualified Department of Corrections and Public Safety employees, their spouses and dependent children while pursuing an undergraduate degree. This scholarship is in addition to all other financial aid.

 • a 10 percent tuition discount for qualified Department of Corrections and Public Safety employees, their spouses and dependent children in the form of a scholarship on any undergraduate course when not billed the full-time comprehensive rate for undergraduate tuition and a 10 percent tuition discount for Department of Corrections and Public Safety employees and their spouse for any graduate course.

“The Corporate Connections Program is yet another example of the many great things that are happening at Ashland University,” Campo said. “The program is tailored to allow Ashland University to enhance employees’ performance and their success in the workplace by providing career advancement skills and valuable training opportunities. In addition, it ensures that Ashland University stays connected to the business entities and help fuel our local and regional economy.”

The Corporate Connections program also is designed to foster strategic ties between the university and businesses and organizations at the state, national and international level. He said the University has developed a “Wall of Fame,” which displays each of the organizations partnering with AU in the Corporate Connections program.
