The Empire State Building Will Celebrate 30 Years Of The Simpsons

December 17, the Empire State Building will turn its nighttime lights yellow to commemorate 30 Years of THE SIMPSONS!

The longest-running scripted show in television history, and recently marked its 600th episode, THE SIMPSONS, exploded into a cultural phenomenon in 1990 and has remained one of the most groundbreaking and innovative entertainment franchises, recognizable throughout the world. December 17th is a special day for the show as it is the date that the first-ever episode aired in 1989! FOX will have a special re-airing of the first-ever full-length episode of THE SIMPSONS, “Simpsons Roasting on an Open Fire” on Sunday, Dec. 23 at 8/7c.

Since 1976, the Empire State Building’s tower lights have maintained a tradition of changing color to recognize various occasions and organizations throughout the year. Most recently, you may have seen the New York landmark lit up blue and white for Hanukkah or red and green in honor of the opening night of the 2018 Christmas Spectacular starring The Radio City Rockettes!

Check out THE SIMPSONS display on the Empire State Building between sunset and 2 AM on December 17!
