In Shelby, The Shelby Marketplace IGA, known for many years as Cornell’s, is closing.
RichlandSource.com reports, a prospective buyer for the grocery store was unable to secure the financing necessary to purchase the store.
The IGA will remain open until inventory sells out, but the gas station across the street will remain open.
The news, came as a shock to Shelby mayor, Steve Schag, who said, the city administration will work to help find a quality grocer for the iconic location on Mansfield Avenue.
