MOESC Board of Governors Meets, Hires New Treasurer

Mansfield, OH (November 16, 2023) – The Mid-Ohio Educational Service Center Board of Governors voted at their meeting on Wednesday, November 15th to approve a contract with Brenda Miller to hire her as Executive Director of Finance and CFO/Treasurer. The Board of Governors approved a seven-month contract for Brenda as Executive Director of Finance from January 1, 2024 through July 31, 2024 where she will work with outgoing MOESC Treasurer Lorraine Earnest to learn the new position. Brenda was also approved for a two-year CFO/Treasurer contract from August 1, 2024 through July 31, 2026. Brenda, who is currently the treasurer of Cardington-Lincoln Local School District was selected from a strong field of candidates which included 18 applicants from both the traditional school treasurer background and the business sector.

MOESC Board President Dough Theaker said, “Our Board of Governors had a thorough and in-depth search for a new treasurer with a lot of great applicants and good discussion. After much thought and discussion, we came to the unanimous decision to hire Mrs. Miller. We are happy she accepted and are looking forward to working with her, though we will miss Lorraine greatly.” Prior to being hired as Cardington-Lincoln’s treasurer, Brenda worked as a fiscal specialist at New Albany Plain Local School District. Brenda received a bachelor's degree in business finance from Mount Vernon Nazarene University in May 2018. “I am truly honored to join Mid-Ohio ESC as Executive Director of Finance, and eventually as CFO. In addition, at the Board of Governors meeting, Dr. Burke discussed the Student Leadership Conference, which occurred earlier in the day, and the Ohio School Board Association presentation that he and Amber Clay-Mowry gave on November 13th about the importance of strategic planning to the overall success of a district.

Please note that the MOESC offices will be closed November 23rd and 24th for Thanksgiving.

Mid-Ohio Educational Service Center provides specialized academic and support services to 13 school districts and over 20,000 students in Crawford, Morrow and Richland Counties. Client districts receive services from curriculum, gifted and special education consultants, speech pathologists, psychologists, special education teachers, occupational therapists and physical therapists.
