Highway Patrol Investigates Plane Crash In Crawford County, Near SR 602

Bucyrus Troopers Investigating a Plane Crash

Bucyrus – Troopers from the Bucyrus Post are investigating a single engine plane crash that occurred on May 18, 2024, at approximately 2:30 PM, near State Route 602 and County Road 26 in Crawford County.

The crash involved an Air Tractor AT-602, piloted by Nathaniel Thomas, age 51, of Stone Creek, Ohio. The preliminary investigation indicates Mr. Thomas flew into high tension wires before crashing into a field.

Mr. Thomas sustained minor injuries but refused any treatment or transportation at the scene.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol was assisted on scene by the Crawford County Sheriff’s Office, New Washington Fire, First Life EMS, and American Electric Power Company. The FAA and NTSB were also notified.

The crash remains under investigation
