The Mansfield Division of Police has received Federal Funds from the Ohio Traffic Safety Office to help save lives in the Mansfield community. Chief Jason Bammann announced the Ohio Department of Public Safety’s (ODPS) Ohio Traffic Safety Office (OTSO) awarded $28,178.72 in federal traffic safety funding to the Mansfield Division of Police for federal fiscal year 2025.
Competitive grant proposals are accepted and reviewed by OTSO, with funds awarded to projects that will have the greatest impact on reducing fatal crashes or significantly improving traffic safety systems.
These funds are critical to ensuring that we are doing everything possible to keep our community safe. Based on crash data, we have identified several areas of interest to focus traffic enforcement for violations such as speeding, occupant restraint use, impaired driving, distracted driving, aggressive driving and traffic safety education and awareness.
The Division will use these monies to conduct high visibility overtime traffic enforcement between October 2024 and September 2025 in the hopes of reducing impaired driving, distracted driving, crashes and serious injuries as well as educate the community on traffic safety procedures.
