Lexington Softball Wins Regional Title, Headed to State Tournament

The Lexington softball team punched their ticket to the state tournament on Friday night in Clyde, as Lex beat Bryan, 6-1, in the Division IV Regional Championship game.

RichlandSource.com reports, Makaree Chapman fired a 3-hitter and struck out 12 in helping Lexington reach the Final Four for the 1st time in 23 years (2002).


Mariana Molton got Lex on the scoreboard in the 1st inning, as she crushed a 3-run homerun to get the offense started.

Lexington improves to 24-3 and will meet the winner of Licking Valley / Kenton Ridge, who play Saturday at noon, in the state semi-finals on June 4th. The game will be played in Akron at Firestone stadium at 10 a.m.
