Arkansas Man, 50, Killed in Ashland County Accident Sunday Night on I-71

Troopers Investigating Fatal Crash on I-71 in Ashland County

Montgomery Township - On Sunday July 6th, 2025 at approximately 9:19 PM troopers from the Ashland Highway Patrol Post were dispatched to a fatal crash involving a single vehicle on Interstate 71 near mile post #183. A 1997 Jeep Wrangler was northbound on I-71 and went off of the left side of the roadway into the median. The Jeep struck the median cable barrier and overturned before coming to a final rest. The driver was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash and was ejected from the vehicle.

The driver of the Jeep, William Justin Anderson, age 50 of Jonesboro, Arkansas was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol was assisted on scene by Ashland Fire & EMS & Bate’s Towing. The left lane of I-71 (northbound) was closed for approximately one hour.

Alcohol & Drugs are not considered to be factors in the crash. The crash currently remains under investigation at this time
