Anthony Ward, a wanted parole violator, was hospitalized after being hit by Butler Mayor Wesley Dingus’s car during a July 11 incident. Ward fled from police during a confrontation and was struck while running. Bellville Police Chief Jon Fletcher said Dingus, who followed Ward’s vehicle, may have acted within legal bounds but didn’t speculate on intent. No charges have been filed, and the case has been referred to the Richland County Prosecutor’s Office for review.
