Patrol Investigates Fatal Crash Involving Motorcycle and Pick-Up Truck
Vermillion Township – On Sunday September 14, 2025 at approximately 3:53 PM the Ashland Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol was advised of a serious injury crash on State Route 511 south of US Route 30 involving two motorcycles and a pick-up truck. A 2019 Chevrolet Colorado was traveling north on State Route 511 and was operated by 62-year-old Jon G. Burkholder of Ashland, Ohio. A 1995 Honda VF750C was traveling south on State Route 511 and was operated by 27-year-old Noah David Carmel Rogers of Shreve, Ohio. A 2005 Suzuki VL1500 was traveling south on State Route 511 and was operated by 50-year-old Dwight A. Finney of Atwater, Ohio. A third motorcycle was also traveling south on State Route 511 but was not involved in the crash.
Rogers drove left of center attempting to pass the other two motorcycles. The Chevrolet Colorado and the Honda VF750C motorcycle collided head-on. Rogers was ejected from the motorcycle and both he and the motorcycle came to a final rest in the west ditch of State Route 511. The Suzuki Motorcycle was also involved in the collision and traveled off of the west side of State Route 511 and Dwight Finney was ejected from his motorcycle. The Chevrolet Colorado came to a controlled final rest within the northbound travel lane of State Route 511.
Noah Rogers sustained fatal injuries as a result of the crash and was pronounced deceased at the scene. Dwight Finney was transported from the scene by the Hayesville Fire Department to University Hospital Ashland Samaritan Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries. Jon Burkholder was treated for minor injuries at the scene.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol was assisted on-scene by the Ashland County Sheriff’s Office, The Hayesville Fire Department, The Ashland Fire Department, and the Ashland County Coroner’s Office. State Route 511 was closed in the area of the crash for approximately 4 hours while the crash was investigated. This incident remains under investigation at this time.
