The Mansfield Police Department is investigating a shooting incident that occurred early Saturday morning, when shots were fired around 1 a.m. in the Municipal Parking lot downtown, in the area of North Diamond Street and East 4th Street.
Mansfield Police Chief, Jason Bammann, said, the incident was not related to the Final Friday event, which was held earlier in the evening and ended at 10:30 pm.
Mansfield Police investigators are working to identify those involved.
Bammann told RichlandSource.com, multiple shell casings were recovered and nobody was injured, which leads Bammann to believe that someone was firing up into the air.
The Mansfield PD was given a description of the suspect, which fled the area on foot.
Bammann said, they are working to piece together what happened and want to reassure everyone that public safety remains a top priority.
