Dr. Julie Chaya Recognized Nationally as a Rising Leader in Public Health

Mansfield, OH – Dr. Julie Chaya, Health Commissioner of Richland Public Health, has been recognized as one of the 40 Under 40 in Public Health for her innovative leadership, strategic vision, and commitment to improving community health in Richland County and beyond. The de Beaumont Foundation announced its Class of 2025 on October 14, following a competitive national selection process that reviewed nominations from hundreds of professionals working to advance public health across the country.

“The 40 Under 40 Class of 2025 is a high-achieving, passionate group of professionals whose accomplishments and experience showcase the very best of the public health field,” said Brian C. Castrucci, DrPH, president and CEO of the de Beaumont Foundation. “I look forward to working with them to advance health outcomes in communities across the nation.”

“Public health leadership is about collaboration, compassion, and courage,” said Dr. Chaya. “I’m honored to represent Richland County and to continue building partnerships that improve the health and well-being of our community.”

As Health Commissioner, Dr. Chaya has led Richland Public Health through a period of strategic growth and transformation—strengthening partnerships across healthcare, education, and local government; spearheading initiatives to improve access to preventive services; and advancing community engagement through data-driven health improvement planning. Her leadership has been instrumental in advancing initiatives such as Live Well Richland, the county’s emerging comprehensive wellness framework, and in coordinating the department’s ongoing efforts toward public health reaccreditation through the Public Health Accreditation Board (PHAB). Both initiatives reflect her commitment to continuous improvement, cross-sector collaboration, and long-term community impact.

In addition to Dr. Chaya, the program’s honorees include program managers, researchers, community engagement professionals, and senior leaders from health departments, universities, nonprofit organizations, and the private sector. A panel of national public health leaders evaluated nominees based on leadership, vision, collaboration, and measurable impact in their communities.

Through this recognition and a year-long professional development program, honorees of the 40 Under 40 in Public Health will build a robust network, learn from their peers, and amplify the impact of their work nationwide.
