A Michigan family is counting their blessings after being involved in a horrific car crash early in the morning on New Year’s Day. While driving home after leaving a family gathering at 1:30 in the morning on New Year’s Day, Nate and Kathleen Ayers, of Fruitport Township, Michigan, and their children, three-year-old Gideon and 11-week-old Gwen, were hit head-first by a car that drove over the median.

Immediately after the crash, a “guardian angel” couple was there to offer help. "We were on the side of the road and next thing I know, they were right there," Kathleen recalls. "I just remember her rocking Gwen while I had Gideon." Several of Kathleen’s family showed up moments later and the Ayers didn’t get a chance to thank the good Samaritans or to even get their names before they left the crash scene.

The Ayers’ car was completely totaled, but miraculously, Nate and Kathleen only suffered minor bruises and bumps and their children didn’t appear to even know that they’d been in a crash, with Gwen sleeping right through it. The next day, Kathleen posted a description of the couple on social media and within minutes she found out their names were Catherine Kloska and David Sumner. The Ayers ended up getting together with the couple, not just to talk about the crash, but to learn about each other. They shared stories and made plans to get together in a few months to catch up and so the couple can see how the children are growing.
