Firefighters in Michigan pull a man from his vehicle just moments before it’s hit by a train. Last Friday, firefighters in Portage, Michigan, responded to a report of a car crash and found one heavily damaged car and a jeep that had rolled onto its side and was in the middle of the railroad tracks.

The Jeep’s driver was still in the vehicle and couldn’t move because of back pain. As firefighters assessed the situation, they heard a train whistle sound off in the distance and the railroad crossing lights began to flash. Realizing what was about to happen, firefighters quickly worked to free the man from his Jeep and dragged him to safety just seconds before the train slammed into the vehicle.

The man was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment and while there’s no report on his current condition, we can be pretty sure he’s better off than he would have been if he’d stayed in his Jeep.
