Researchers at Johns Hopkins University led a study by an international group of researchers to come up with a new version of AI…OI. “Organoid Intelligence” would use 3D cultures of human brain cells that replicate the parts of the brain responsible for learning and memory, and use them to power a biological AI.
Study co-author Thomas Hartung says the idea is important because “we’re reaching the physical limits of silicon computers.” Scientists taught a dish of brain cells to play “Pong” last fall, but this new concept would be much more powerful.
